This Privacy Policy describes how receipts2excel.ca (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and handles information when you use our receipt-to-Excel conversion service. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
When you use our service, you upload photos of your receipts. These images are transmitted securely to our service solely for the purpose of extracting expense data (merchant name, date, amounts, and taxes). Receipt images are not stored by us. They are processed in memory and discarded immediately after extraction is complete.
We do not collect or store your payment card details. All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. When you complete a purchase, Stripe handles your card information directly. We receive only a confirmation of payment and a session identifier. You can review Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/en-ca/privacy.
Upon a successful payment, we issue a short-lived session token (valid for 20 minutes) that is stored only in your browser’s memory. This token is not persisted after your browser session ends and is not associated with any personal account.
Our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) automatically logs standard server-access information including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. These logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes and are not used for advertising profiling.
We use only functional cookies necessary to operate the service (such as session state). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies without your explicit consent. If you consent through our cookie banner, we may enable analytics to understand how visitors use the site.
We use the information described above to:
We do not use your receipt data to train AI models, and we do not sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
We rely on the following third-party services to operate:
We retain data only as long as necessary:
All data transmitted between your browser and our service is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Receipt images are transmitted directly to our processing servers over encrypted connections and are never written to disk. We apply security headers and standard web application protections against common vulnerabilities.
As a Canadian resident, you have the right to:
Because we do not store receipt images or create user accounts, the personal information we hold is minimal (primarily server logs). To make a privacy request, contact us at privacy@receipts2excel.ca.
Our service is intended for adults and is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
